Lurie Comprehensive Cancer Center where she works as the Solid Tumor, Outpatient Oncology Social Worker, focusing in Adolescent/Young Adult oncology. In this capacity, she focuses on the relationship between the practical needs and the emotional needs of oncology patients, providing a healthy mix of both case management and clinical counseling.
Sandra earned her MSW at the Columbia University School of Social Work with a focus on Advanced Clinical Practice. She also participated in Columbia’s Law School via the Law Minor program, thus providing her with a foundation for both her clinical skills and a dedicated interest to her patients’ legal needs. Sandra put her talents to work directing the Eat, Breathe, Move campaign for Wellness Place, a program focused on helping cancer survivors and caregivers find empowerment through nutrition, stress-management and fitness.
She is also the recipient of extensive training with Dialectical Behavioral Therapy, a practice based in skills training and mindfulness for emotion regulation. Sandra has twice been nominated for the Medical Professional Award for Compassionate Care.
