CLL Patient and Advocate

Mark Silverstein was born and raised in Toronto, Canada. In 2010, at the age of 45, Mark was diagnosed with stage IV CLL and proceeded with six rounds of FCR. He has since relapsed twice and gone through multiple different types of treatment including ibrutinib, venetoclax, rituximab and finally allogeneic stem cell transplant. After initial diagnosis and recovering from chemo, Mark decided to go back to school for psychotherapy. He currently has both a private practice, as well as co-facilitating a survivor group at the local hospice. In addition, he facilitates his own wellness support group for people with an advanced (metastatic) cancer diagnosis.
