Barbara Miller
Patient AdvocateBarbara Miller was diagnosed with essential thrombocythemia (ET) in 2003 at the age of 64 years old. At her yearly check up, Barbara's platelet count was high. Barbara was sent to a hematologist where she was told she needed iron. Barbara decided to get a second opinion at MD Anderson Cancer Center, where a bone biopsy was performed and Barbara was diagnosed with ET. She manages her condition through medication and close monitoring by her medical team. Barbara and her husband Sam have three grown sons and five grandchildren. Barbara enjoys biking, walks and road trips.
