About Hodgkin Lymphoma: A Shareable Guide for Patients, Family and Friends

Hodgkin lymphoma—formerly known as Hodgkin's disease—is a cancer of the lymphatic system, which is part of your immune system.

  • Abnormal cells in the lymphatic system may spread elsewhere in the body. As the disease progresses, it limits the body's ability to fight infection.
  • It is important not to confuse Hodgkin lymphoma with another type of lymphoma, non-Hodgkin lymphoma, which is far more common and treated differently as a chronic condition.
  • The good news about Hodgkin lymphoma is that advances in diagnosis and treatment have helped give people the chance for a full recovery.  And new breakthrough second-line medicines and combinations are giving new hope to patients who do not respond to initial treatment.
