Driving CLL Away with CARs: Update on Chimeric Antigen Receptor Research from ASH 2011

Chimeric Antigen Receptors (CARs) have been making news in CLL research this past year. In this video from ASH 2011, Dr. John Gribben, from the Barts Cancer Institute in London, explains how training a patient's immune system to recognize the CLL cells it missed the first time may lead to breakthrough, personalized treatment in the near future. While Dr. Gribben realizes many patients are very excited about this new treatment approach, he stresses that it is still in its infancy, and needs further research.
