Beating the Odds Against Brain Cancer

Jairo Vanegas of Everett, Washington, was stunned to find out his frequent headaches were something more serious— a diagnosis of glioblastoma, a type of brain cancer, at just 29-years-old. He was treated with surgery, chemotherapy and radiation, and, fortunately it has returned him to a full life with no neurological deficits. Now 36, and married with 2 young children, Jairo is ecstatic about life and plans to attend medical school to pursue his dream of becoming an oncologist.
