At 45 years old Jamie Moyer, a starting pitcher for the now World Champion Philadelphia Phillies, is the oldest active player in Major League Baseball. He is the second oldest player ever to appear in the World Series. With his years in sports have come contact with thousands of fans and they have touched Jamie and his wife Karen. Jamie and Karen established the Moyer Foundation, which identifies non-profit organizations committed to helping children in physical, emotional or financial distress, and enhances those efforts through the collective support of a giving community. Grants from The Moyer Foundation provide organizations with resources to expand programs, purchase supplies, and enable children to receive much needed services and support..
Before Jamie moved to the Phillies, he played for many years with the Seattle Mariners as he and Karen raised seven children. It was while in Seattle that Andrew interviewed Jamie about his foundation and why he plays “extra innings” off the field to make a difference.
