Breanna was diagnosed with PKU at birth. She is third in a family of 8 kids, she has 6 sisters and 1 brother, two of her younger sisters have PKU. Living with PKU has never really been a problem for her, though she never liked drinking formula or taking blood tests. Breanna will enter college in the Fall of 2009. She feels that having PKU has made her a more responsible young adult, particularly when it comes to managing diet. Breanna inspires others to keep their chin up and to not let PKU define you. In her words "You have the power to control PKU, you don't need to let it control you."
Have you got a story we should know about or would you like to ask a question on a future pku program? Submit your story or question.
