Online Broadcast Credited for helping Women Talk to Their Doctor About Sex

Seattle, WA - Sex is not an easy subject to discuss with your doctor. A Seattle-based online broadcaster has won a prominent award for producing live and on-demand talk shows to change that.

The Women's Sexual Health Foundation has chosen Patient Power® as its media award winner because of its production and broadcast of several hours of programs on sexual health issues including: "Women's Sexual Health," "Sexuality and the Cancer Patient," and "Sexuality and Sexual Health." Each one-hour program featured a leading medical expert and inspiring patients.

The award will be presented at the Foundation's annual banquet in New York City in April.

The Foundation commended Patient Power founder and host Andrew Schorr, a 12-year leukemia survivor, for his dedication to producing programs from the patient's point of view and tackling health issues such as sex in a forthright and honest discussion with leading experts.

Patient Power has produced almost 1,000 hours of medical talk shows for patients and family members leading to the creation of the most extensive library of health audio programs. Programs are funded by the nation's leading medical centers including University of Washington Medical Center, Northwestern Memorial Hospital, UCLA Health System, and Vanderbilt University Medical Center. The programs are featured on medical center web sites, Patient's Power's www.patientpower.info, and Microsoft's health search engine at www.healthvault.com.

Andrew Schorr, commenting on the award, said, "We are not in it for awards or even as a business, just patient empowerment to help Americans have better health. Sexual health is part of a full life and requires open discussion, including at times, with your doctor."
