Dr. Wade Smith is director of the Neurovascular Service at UCSF Medical Center. Dr. Smith is a neurointensivist and has been trained in both critical care and neurology. He received his medical degree and a doctorate in neurophysiology from the University of Washington followed by a residency and fellowship in critical care medicine from the University of California, San Francisco. Dr. Smith specializes in stroke prevention, the management of acute stroke, critical care medicine, cerebral blood-flow monitoring with transcranial Doppler techniques and the medical management of patients after stroke.
