Dr. Carithers is Professor of Medicine and Director of the Hepatology Program at the University of Washington. He has been a leader in developing guidelines for liver transplantation and in conducting clinical research on hepatitis B and hepatitis C. Dr. Carithers received his medical degree from the University of Pennsylvania and completed residency training at University of North Carolina Hospitals. He is board-certified in internal medicine.
