Clinical Metabolic Dietitian
Children’s Hospital of Pittsburgh of UPMC

Nicole Payne is a clinical metabolic dietitian at the Children’s Hospital of Pittsburgh of UPMC of Pittsburgh and has been with the Division of Medical Genetics and PKU since 2000.   She received her Bachelor of Science degree in nutrition from Pennsylvania State University in State College, Pennsylvania in 1997.  She went on to complete her nutrition residency program for dietitians from The Family Health Council of Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania.  Nicole is a registered dietitian through the American Dietetics Association.   Nicole’s work at The Children’s Hospital of Pittsburgh includes providing nutrition assessments, implementing and updating nutrition support plans, and education for infants, children, and adults with inborn errors of metabolism and genetic disorders.  She has co-authored abstracts on inherited metabolic disorders, is a co-investigator on several clinical trials, has given multiple presentations for professional and family conferences, and is a current member of the Genetic Metabolic Dietitians International (GMDI), National PKU Alliance (NPKUA), and Mid-Atlantic Connection for PKU and Allied Disorders (MACPAD).
