Dr. Talamini is Professor and Chairman of the Department of Surgery at University of California, San Diego Medical Center. He is a pioneer in minimally invasive abdominal surgery. Dr. Talamini is regarded as a highly respected surgeon, researcher, teacher and is recognized as one of the leading authorities on laparoscopic and robotic-assisted surgery in the United States. In his clinics and surgeries at UCSD, he specializes in gastrointestinal surgery, with a particular emphasis on the treatment of inflammatory bowel disease and the use of minimally invasive technology to minimize pain and scarring. Dr. Talamini is also President of The Society of American Gastrointestinal and Endoscopic Surgeons (SAGES), the largest professional organization of gastrointestinal surgeons in the United States.
