Mark A. Harrast, MD
Dr. Mark A. Harrast is a sports medicine physician at UW Medicine Health System and medical director of the Seattle Marathon. His clinical expertise is diagnosing and treating sports-related injuries and illnesses in endurance athletes, runners and triathletes. He also has a focus on injury prevention and wellness, and enjoys treating athletes and active people throughout the age spectrum. He works closely with many rehabilitation professionals, including physical therapists, athletic trainers, coaches, massage therapists, and nutritionists to individualize the treatment plan of care for each of his patients, depending on the significance and severity of the injury or illness. A competitive Ironman triathlete himself, Dr. Harrast understands first-hand the benefits of physical activity and the desire to stay active. He joined the faculty of the UW Departments of Rehabilitation Medicine and Orthopaedics and Sports Medicine in 2001. He graduated with honors from the University of Chicago and obtained his medical degree from Northwestern University.
