Karen Horvath, M.D., FACS
Dr. Horvath is Professor of Surgery and director of the General Surgery Residency Program at UW Medicine. Her clinical expertise includes gastrointestinal surgery, colon and rectal cancer, recurrent rectal cancer, inflammatory bowel disease, anal cancer, small bowel cancer, and hernia surgery. She received her medical degree from New York Medical College and completed her residency at Columbia Presbyterian Hospital. Dr. Horvath is the author of over 40 publications, five textbook chapters, and numerous resident-training videos. She serves on committees and the board of directors at organizations such as the American College of Surgeons, the Association of Program Directors in Surgery and the Society of Gastrointestinal and Endoscopic Surgeons.
