Mother of Patrick

Patrick was born on October 25, 2001 - nearly 9 pounds and healthy in every way! At 8 days old, we received word that his PKU test was positive with elevated phe levels. He was immediately placed on Phenex 1 and we began the learning experience of a lifetime. Patrick is now 7 years old, strong, healthy, smart, funny, and creative. He has consistent levels in the 2-5 range and accepts PKU as just a small part of who he is. We take his diet VERY seriously and strive to keep his life as normal as possible. As a mom of a PKU child, I also use my knowledge of the diet to help new parents of PKU children as they learn the ropes of this disorder. I love to cook and try new recipes. Luckily, Patrick loves to eat and try new foods!
