Dr. Jorge Eduardo Cortes is Chair of the CML Section in the Department of Leukemia at The University of Texas MD Anderson Cancer Center and is also D. B. Lane Cancer Research Distinguished Professor for Leukemia Research.  Dr. Cortes attended medical school at Universidad Nacional Autónoma de Mexico in Mexico City, Mexico.   He went on to complete fellowships in hematology at Instituto Nacional de la Nutricion Salvador Zubiran in Mexico City, Mexico, the University of Texas Health Science Center in Houston, Texas, and the MD Anderson Cancer Center in Houston, Texas.  Dr. Cortes is certified by the Mexican Board of Internal Medicine and Mexican Board of Hematology.
