Dr. O’Connell is a world-renowned expert on congestive heart failure and cardiac transplantation. He currently serves as Associate Director for Northwestern Memorial Hospital’s Bluhm Cardiovascular Institute, Director for the Center for Heart Failure and Director of Network Development at Bluhm. In addition to his duties at Northwestern Memorial, Dr. O’Connell also is a professor at Northwestern University’s Feinberg School of Medicine. His career has so far included top leadership positions in several scientific organizations, including service as president of the International Society for Heart and Lung Transplantation and association of Professors of Medicine.
