Jessie Quinn
Jessie Quinn was diagnosed with acute myelogenous leukemia (AML) in March of 2010. Because the cancer was affecting her central nervous system, doctors informed her that she would most certainly need a bone marrow transplant. Given that Jessie is bi-racial, she knew this would be a challenge and began her own research about her condition where she learned of cord transplant. Jessie met with Dr. Colleen Delaney at the Seattle Cancer Care Alliance and became patient #1 in a clinical trial involving double cord transplant. Her transplant was performed in September of 2010. Jessie describes the first few days after transplant as “very challenging” with the fatigue and nausea. She has experienced mild GVHD but is doing better and better each day as her energy increases. Jessie remains hopeful about her recovery and enjoys spending time with her husband, Brett, and her 2-year-old daughter, Luna.
