Jennifer McAndrew is a 31-year-old event planner. She lives in downtown Chicago with her husband Jim. In June of 2009, she was at home and had just finished lunch when suddenly her left side went limp. She called 9-1-1. When the paramedics came, they knew right away she was having a stroke and rushed her to the emergency room at Northwestern. Jennifer was treated quickly with a ‘clotbuster’ drug (TPA) and it worked. She started getting better as the night progressed. Her doctors believe she has a blood clotting issue and continue to monitor her closely. Jennifer lives a full life today and has been approved by her doctors to get pregnant.
