Young mother diagnosed with breast cancer
At just 30-years-old, Janell was diagnosed with breast cancer. She had just given birth to her second child in March of 2006, when she discovered a lump in her left breast while nursing her son. Janell thought eventually the lump would disappear, but it did not. After going to several different doctors and being told it was just a clogged milk duct, Janell was referred to a breast specialist at the Seattle Cancer Care Alliance for a mammogram. That same day an ultrasound and biopsy were performed and less than a week later, Janell was given the devastating news that she had breast cancer. Once she received her diagnosis, things moved rather quickly. Janell chose to do chemotherapy, surgery and then radiation.
