Jamie and Mary Beth Parsons Jamie and Mary Beth Parsons
Couple Dealing with Multiple Myeloma Diagnosis

Jamie Parson’s longtime goal has been to hit a ball out of the ballpark at age 101, and he says it’s still a goal, even while living with multiple myeloma, a blood cancer. Jamie, with the strong support of his wife Mary Beth, is managing his disease well through participation in a clinical trial. While they say it took some time to reach a “comfort zone” with the situation, both are grateful for the advances in treatment that enable Jamie to live well with the disease, and both continue to have a positive outlook on their future together. The couple, from Mercer Island, Washington, says the support of friends and the expert care from his doctor, William Bensinger M.D., from the Seattle Cancer Care Alliance, have made a real difference in their lives.
