James Brown
James Brown, a mechanical engineer from Houston, had lost his father, grandfather and uncle to prostate cancer. Because of his family history, James was very carefully monitoring his own symptoms and risk factors. In 1999, after a urologist felt a hard spot and tests showed a slightly elevated PSA result, a biopsy confirmed two tumors in his prostate. James underwent a radical prostatectomy. Now, he is devoted to other patients, volunteering regularly at the Anderson Network at MD Anderson Cancer Center.
