Howard Herrmann, MD
Howard C. Herrmann, MD, is Professor of Medicine and Director of the Interventional Cardiology and Cardiac Catheterization Laboratories at the University of Pennsylvania Medical Center. Dr. Herrmann's research interests include the study of new devices and therapies for valvular and coronary artery disease, with particular interest in platelet inhibitors, acute myocardial infarction, and percutaneous treatment of valvular heart disease. In addition to being an active practicing cardiologist, he has been an investigator on many important clinical trials, including SPEED, TACTICS, TARGET, EVEREST, and FINESSE. He also is editor of Percutaneous Noncoronary Intervention, a book that highlights new techniques for treating structural and valvular heart disease. Dr. Herrmann is a former president of the Pennsylvania chapter of the American College of Cardiology. He has been writing for Journal Watch Cardiology since the publication's launch in 1995 and has been Deputy Editor since 2006.
