Since 1992, Dalida Dwyer has worked as a physical therapist at Mission Hospital in the Rehabilitation Center for Sports and Wellness. In 1999, Dwyer became a Board Certified Orthopaedic Clinical Specialist (OCS) by the American Physical Therapy Association. Her strong passion for teaching and sharing with others can be seen through her work with Mission and in the community. She has also been very active in educating the public about health issues by giving regular community wellness lectures on topics such as osteoporosis, scoliosis and back pain. After being diagnosed with multiple sclerosis in 1997, Dwyer began lecturing for the National Multiple Sclerosis Society’s “Newly Diagnosed Day,” guiding new patients on how to physically cope with the disease. As a certified clinical specialist, Dwyer helps facilitate continuing education for others by coordinating sponsorship of the hospital’s year long orthopaedic physical therapy course. In 2006, she was awarded the Values In Action Award for “Justice” from Mission Hospital and the St. Joseph Health System. The Values in Action Awards are given to individuals who have made a positive difference in the quality of life in south Orange County through vocation, volunteerism, avocation and philanthropy. She is currently in the process of renewing her ten year certification as an OCS.
